About Meghan

Meghan Michelle Kuznia is the 22-year-old daughter of Gayle and Annette Kuznia of Argyle, Minnesota. She is a 2006 graduate of Stephen/Argyle Central High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) with a Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) major and a Psychology minor. Meghan completed her graduate studies at UMD and received her M.A. in CSD in May, 2011. Her career ambition is to be a speech-language pathologist who specializes in working in a hospital setting with individuals who have congenital and acquired neurogenic speech and language disorders, dysphagia, and those who would benefit from augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
Meghan was the valedictorian of her high school graduating class; was on the Dean’s List every semester at UMD; received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in three years, graduating summa cum laude with departmental honors; and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi National College Honor Society. She was the recipient of the Robert F. Pierce Scholarship for Academic Excellence, awarded to the top CSD grad student applicant at UMD.
Out of a pool of international researchers, Meghan was selected to present her graduate school research project at the International Convention for Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology (i-CREATe) in Shanghai, China, this past July. She is one of the first individuals to conduct and analyze research on using the Proloquo2Go application, a speech-generating AAC system made especially for the iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad.
Interesting facts about Meghan include her working as a city garbage collector and spearheading the formation of a community library in Argyle. She secretly loves mowing the lawn, and she is teaching herself to play the electric guitar. Meghan completed a college class dedicated to the music and lives of the Beatles. Meghan was named Miss Teen of Minnesota 2003-04 and placed as second runner-up in the national Miss Teen of America competition. As Miss Marshall County, she was named first runner-up in the 2007 Miss MN Pageant.
Meghan has a passion for raising awareness about noise-induced hearing loss. She hopes many will take her "sound" advice and practice strategies to safeguard their hearing.
